Field Status
Field closures will be updated here at 4:00 PM on weekdays and 8:00 AM on weekends.
Decisions may be made at the field should conditions change or if there is any thunder or lightning.
U7 – U19 Games (Indoor)
All games proceed unless the City closes roads due to winter weather.
U10 – U12 Games (Outdoor)
These games are played on community fields. Please go to the website of the home team to check for field closures. Club websites can be found HERE. Field status will be updated by 4:30 PM on weekdays and 8:30 AM on weekends.
Games scheduled on community (club) fields must be played unless the field is closed by the club via the club's website.
U13 – U19 Games (Outdoor)
These games are played on City of Calgary Fields. Check field status online HERE. Field status is updated by 4:00 P.M. on week days and at 9:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. on weekends.
Games scheduled on athletic park fields by CMSA must be played unless the field is closed by the City Parks Department via the field closure phone line or the website.
- For Rundle, Edge and SAIT artificial turf fields, play is only cancelled in the event of lightning and heavy snowfall and the referee will make the official call at the field if the game is to be played.Teams can also check the SAIT field by calling the rainout line phone number: 403-284-8027.

Lightning Safety
Air Quality Monitoring
CMSA is implementing a NEW Air Quality Procedure to complement the Air Quality Policy/Guideline. Its purpose is to serve as a guideline for CMSA Members, Match Officials, Team Officials, and players participating with Calgary Minor Soccer Association.
This procedure should be used when assessing air quality prior to and during games and/or practices. We understand that air quality can change very quickly. We want to ensure that participants are able to play in a safe environment and play as scheduled as often as possible.
Air Quality Session Policy
Air quality will be reviewed only when smoke, poor visibility, an air-quality advisory, or an AQHI forecast suggests sessions may be affected.
Decisions will be made by individual session, not by automatically cancelling a full day or evening.
We will use:
- Government of Alberta AQHI forecast for planning ahead
- PurpleAir for current local conditions near the field
If a session may be affected, a Smoke Watch update will be sent to that group. This means the session is still scheduled, but conditions are being monitored.
A final decision will be shared one hour before the session start time.
Decision Guidelines
- AQHI 1–3: Session proceeds as planned.
- AQHI 4–6: Session may proceed with modifications, including lower intensity, added breaks, no fitness work, and possible shortening.
- AQHI 7+: Session will be cancelled, delayed, rescheduled, or moved indoors where possible.
If conditions are expected to worsen during a session, the decision will be based on whether the session can be completed safely before air quality reaches AQHI 7+.
If conditions are expected to improve, a delayed start may be considered if it is practical.
Updates will only be sent when a session may be affected or when a final decision is needed. Otherwise, families and staff should assume the session is proceeding as planned.
