Rangers Players Join Calgary’s Youth in Powerful Call for New Soccer Facilities at City Hall
Calgary’s soccer community made a powerful statement at City Hall today.
Young players from Calgary Rangers, Calgary Northeast United, and Chinook SC — some as young as nine years old — took the mic during the City of Calgary Budget Consultation, sharing their personal stories and speaking directly to City Council about the urgent need for more quality soccer facilities in our city.
We are especially proud of our Calgary Rangers players, who spoke with confidence, clarity, and passion about the challenges they face due to overcrowded fields and limited access to playable space. Their voices represented not only their teammates, but thousands of youth across Calgary who rely on soccer as a place to grow, belong, and thrive.
Community leaders Guillaume and Ahmed reinforced this message, highlighting the significant disparity in field access in Northeast Calgary and advocating for equitable investment across the city. CMSA Executive Director Carlo also spoke on behalf of Calgary’s 31,000 players, urging Council to prioritize safe, accessible, and high-quality facilities for our city’s youth.
The Message Was Clear:
Calgary urgently needs new soccer facilities. Our fields are already at capacity, and without real investment, the situation will only worsen — leading to overcrowding, waitlists, and lost opportunities for young players.
