Player Development Program – APDL Players

In July 2019, after a rigorous review process, Canada Soccer announced that 39 clubs in Alberta, BC and Ontario were provisionally granted the National Youth Club Licence (NYCL), the highest amateur youth club designation in the Canada Soccer Club Licensing Program. Seven clubs in Alberta met the 142 criteria and were granted licenses – four of these are in Calgary.

Calgary Rangers Soccer Club was one of only 7 clubs in Alberta, and one of the first 39 clubs nationally, to be awarded the National Youth Club License by Canada Soccer in August of 2019.

The Alberta Player Development League started outdoor 2021, for the U15 age group (players born in 2006) with the planned implementation of one new birth year annually at the U14 level until the full league runs from U14 to U17 in 2023. The league is limited to clubs that have achieved the National Youth Club License.

The Canada Soccer National Youth Club License recognizes the highest achieving organizations from across Canada and rewards them with the Canada Soccer Approved Youth Soccer Club endorsement. Organizations achieving this license display characteristics and demonstrate behaviours aligned with the highest expectations of governance, administration, infrastructure, and technical, support their PTSO and Canada Soccer Pathways and participate in the highest level of competition in Canada; the Canada Soccer Player Development Program.

Alberta Player Development league

Alberta Soccer has fully launched its standards-based Youth Soccer League designed for performance level players. All league standards are approved by Canada Soccer and include full year periodized technical training plans, minimum coaching licenses, video analysis, and organizational excellence.

The goal of the program is to create the best training and competition environments for each individual player. Canada Soccer’s Regional Excel Director & U15 National Team Head Coach, Eric Tenllado, will scout the league through regularly scheduled visits.

At Rangers we strive to provide our players with the best possible program. Our periodized training program will include an approved technical plan, Licensed coaches, strength & conditioning, mental performance, nutrition and video analysis.

Players in the Player Development Program and playing in the Alberta Player Development League will required to pay an additional APDL fee due towards the end of the season.
